In addition to the women’s finals, the third day of WUC Wrestling was also marked by the recent rounds of the men’s freestyle wrestling world championship. Four categories had their world champions revealed (-61kg, -70kg, -79kg and -97kg).

The Hungarian László Gergely, who took bronze in the 70kg category, did not hide his happiness with the medal in his chest: “It means a lot to me. Wrestling started as a hobby and it is an honor to be competing here in Brazil and to share the podium with such strong athletes that we’ll problably see in the Olympics in a few years. ”

Elected the best delegations in the male freestyle, Japan, Turkey and Russia received trophy for the performance of their athletes in the modality. The men return to combat this Friday, but in Greco – Roman style. WUC Wrestling runs until September 9 at the Rio Vermelho.
